A Baker’s Dozen of Links (not sausages)
I have been and very busy of late. My job is taking up a great deal of time for a number of reasons which I refuse to acknowledge for the length of time it would take me to explain them. However, I have come across a number of interesting things online and would like to share some of the best finds. Most of these relate to my areas of interest which include the cultural movement called ‘postmodern’, biblical interpretation, biblical studies, philosophy of religion, general academia, and a bit of theology thrown in for good measure.
1. An article at Christianity Today titled “Reading with the Saints:The Art of Biblical Interpretation”. I started reading this and hope to finish it soon. (Link)
2. I also started reading the introduction to an upcoming book being published by Baker on the theological interpretation of Scripture. I didn’t find the introduction awe inspiring, but it did give some good background for those not familiar with this subject area. (Link)
3. Here is a discussion of Alvin Plantinga’s Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism or EAAN for short. (There are a lot of abbreviations in this one. (Link)
4. Fides Quarrens Intellectum has a discussion of the possibility of miracles (Link) as well as an excellent link to an article from the journal Philosophia Christi on the same topic (Link).
5. On a subject closely related to the previous post, Faith and Theology writes on the subject “Who’s Rationality? Which Apologetics?”. (Link)
6. Also closely related to the previous topic, Peter Enns has posted excerpts of his response to his ousting by the administration and faculty of Westminster Theological Seminary. I hope to read through these at length and possibly comment in the near future. (Link)
7. I look forward to reading this post on the subject of “Infallible or Inerrant”. (Link)
8. If I had the money to buy it, I would read this book about biblical interpretation and literary theory. (Well, maybe, I don’t know much about the book, but the title is intriguing. (Link)
9. A good idea altogether, a group of bloggers has gotten together to host a online Karl Barth Blog Conference. (Link)
10. If you are a Christian who is feeling particularly postmodern (whatever that might feel like), you can check out the Church and Pomo website. They have a post about Gadamer which I hope to dive into in the near future. (Link)
11. A very interesting article titled “The Library in the New Age” is here. Bibliophiles will find it a good read if not a bit lengthy. (Link)
12. I would very highly suggest the talk given by Gerald Bray for the 2008 John Murray lecture which is posted in MP3 here. His subject is somewhat of an overview of the discipline of Biblical Studies. He makes some very interesting comments about the current challenges for and historical background of the contemporary discipline. Other talks would be good although Bray’s is the only one I have listened to myself. (Link)
13. After all that I could not forget the 71st Philosophers’ Carnival. (Link)
